The application process for the study year 2023/24 is already closed. The next chance to apply for studying at the Department of Painting and Animated Film is January 2024.
Portfolio feedback in preparation for the upcoming entrance exams is possible until December 15th 2023, every Thursday between 1 and 2pm.

The entrance exam consists of two parts:
1) Online submission of the portfolio: January 11th-27th 2023, 12:00 (CET)
Prepare one PDF (max. 50 MB) for the online submission, including:
– Portfolio
– CV
– Letter of motivation
– Questionnaire (download docx or pdf)
Starting from January 11th 2023, noon (CET) you can submit your application on https://application.uni-ak.ac.at/
Please prepare a portfolio of recent works (not older than two years) that reflect your interests, your focus and your work method. Include about 10 examples of analog paintings and about 20 analog drawings. Please add the following infos to each work: title, technique, height x width in cm, year
You can also submit sketches, photographs, animations and storyboards. Share videos by uploading them on Vimeo or Youtube and include the links (and password) in the PDF portfolio.
Enclose a letter of motivation (about 500 words) with your application, a free format CV and fill out the questionnaire.
The application should clearly show your interest and skills in studying painting and/or animated film. The websites of the department and the university will help to give you an idea of the studies.

2) Practical part: February 27th – March 3rd, 2023
The practical part will be held online on Zoom and will take 5 days. The assignments will be given on the 1st day of the exam.
Successful candidates will be notified latest by March 6th 2023 and start their studies in October 2023.
