Sophie Schweizer lives and works in Vienna. In addition to studying painting, she has completed a BA in art history at the University of Vienna.
In her figurative, mostly oil paintings, she explores themes ranging from mundane structures to impactful experiences often rooted in everyday situations and spaces, like within one’s own four walls, with a touch of surrealism. Concepts are often inspired by found compositions and collected thoughts, dreams or even conversations only heard in passing, quickly photographed or written down and reinterpreted on paper or canvas.
