Mimesis and Memento
(Malerei)
Light shapes the way we perceive the world, transforming spaces and altering their emotional impact. It reveals meaning, structure, and texture, creating new ways of seeing the familiar. My desire to capture such fleeting moments of light is rooted in the tension between awe and fear of loss. Light can transform the ordinary into the extraordinary, but its transient nature makes it impossible to hold onto. Painting becomes an attempt to eternalize these moments through mimesis, however imperfectly. The act of creating a painting, in any case, allows for a reinterpretation of everyday experiences, turning them into memories of what was once felt. Painting serves as a dialogue between memory and perception, embracing impermanence and offers a space for contemplation, while reflecting the beauty of moments that are forever out of reach.
