Human skin and textile meet at innumerable points of contact. The body moves the fabric, and the fabric shapes the body. Questions of personal expression and identity and the process of putting on and shedding off layers play a central role. I work in cycles of images, which are always created in dialogue to the last images. Some paintings become more abstract by focusing on blown up details, some retain more recognizable references to patterns of textiles. Those can become disguises, a means of navigating the human settings while discovering and hiding possible identities.
