Dear friends and music lovers,
the first year of Eisler Klasse for painting and animation invite you to listen to and look at a playlist, that is both acoustic and visual.
Eight tracks and eight accompanying paintings, chosen and painted by us.
Like so many things in our day music is mostly happening in digital spaces. This is just a fact. We do not want to mourn a lost age of CDs, tapes and records, that none of us really experienced anyways. Feel free to get nostalgic though!
But by bringing this playlist to life we have also brought it out of the digital realm and back to the physical world. Plus, we have done it in a way that only the eight of us could have, both as individuals and as a collective.
Each painting is the visual interpretation (an album cover perhaps) of each persons chosen track on the playlist. The crack and crackle of records and the hiss of tape may be past in the days of gen Z, but listening to music is still a deeply personal and individual experience. An experience we have all tried to translate into the visual world.
