Katharina Höglingers works draw from the experience of everyday life. They are created at the breakfast table, in the studio or while out and about. Whirling thoughts and loose interests are selected and captured instantaneously to be fixed on a medium such as paper, cardboard, fabric or canvas in an interplay of drawing and painting. In keeping with the nested and tangled nature of a thought, Höglinger continues to spin it until overlapping and intertwined figures emerge to inhabit the painterly pictorial spaces. (Text excerpt – Florentine Rungrama Muhry)
Exhibitions have been held at a.o. at Weston Studios, Royal Academy of Art (London), Galeria Quadrado Azul (Lissabon), Belvedere 21 (Wien), Fettes College (Edinburgh), Cassandra Cassandra und Cooper Cole (Toronto), Tower (Wien). Höglinger is represented by the Gallery Wonnerth Dejaco and will soon launch her first major publication.

Artist Talk & Workshop
What constitutes an art object, how is its value determined by its price and should you take the risk of an embarrassing sell-out fi you go broke?
At the same time, the production of more affordable works, editions and merch items is not only a question that relates to the position of the artist, but also to who has the opportunity to acquire art and from whom. So to what extent is it also the responsibility of artists to take a stand against an elitist art system? And what possibilities are there to be part of a discourse, earn a living and at the same time critically engage with inadequacies and class issues without becoming irrelevant and embarrassing?
